July 7: Rainmaker Canopy Bridge Tour

Wow!  We had a unique experience exploring a part of God's creation today.  We had the opportunity to visit pristine, untouched rain forest from a bird's eye view.  A guide led us along a variety of trails and canopy bridges as we spent the entire morning soaking in the lush surroundings.

According to our guide this is a 1000 year old wild chestnut tree

Glad the guide knew what to look out for - a poisonous eyelash pit viper

We saw a TOUCAN fly by when we were on this platform!!

Taking a dip in this waterfall area was very refreshing & quite unforgettable

A bit camouflaged but can you spot the Jesus Christ lizard on the rock with his head looking up?  This lizard gets its name b/c of its ability to walk/run on water.  Nathan and Angelina saw some smaller ones run on water.

Another highlight was taking a break in the powerful 'back massage' waterfall

To us it seemed like we were in the middle of nowhere and yet two local women in the open-air kitchen prepared us this AMAZINGLY delicious typical meal:  black beans, chicken & rice, cabbage salad, squash and star fruit juice.  It put the exclamation mark on the end of an unforgettable morning.
