May 4: A Day of Invitations

Invitation #1:  The day started like most Saturdays do around here....we extended an invitation to our kids to accompany us to the outdoor produce market so we could have plenty of hands to help carry all the stuff back.  While George and I purchase everything, they hang out with the dogs at the animal shelter booth.  If it weren't for the dogs, they would not be nearly as willing to accompany us to the market.

Invitation #2:  D R U M R O L L .........We waited over 10 months but this week our family received our first invitation to enter a Costa Rican home!!!  The pastor's family from church (Gilberth and Mayela and their two college-aged daughters) had us over for lunch today.  We watched a few minutes of the news showing live coverage of Obama flying out of San José and then Mayela served us a scrumptious lasagna that rivaled that of Olive Garden or any fine Italian eatery.  We greatly enjoyed the food and fellowship and are deeply grateful for their invitation.

Invitation #3:  We really wish we had known about this before last month but there's a skating rink in a nearby neighborhood and sisters from school goes there almost every Saturday and invited our kids to join them.  Their dad, Rogelio, offered to pick up our kids for the afternoon session from 2pm-5pm.  Although it wasn't on ice, George was interested in skating so he went too!  They all had a great time (I got groceries and did meal prep) and are thankful for this invitation to hang out with El Puente students (there were others from EP there too).

Invitation #4:  Tonight we extended a dinner invitation to Laly, children's pastor at church and teacher at El Puente.  She was asked to preach tomorrow and is doing it on missions which has never been done before so she had asked if we could help out.  We brainstormed some ideas together and think we have a plan.  Laly will be giving the majority of the sermon and George and I will both be speaking a little too.  Please pray that God uses the message to touch and inspire those who hear it.
