Wednesday, June 24: Robbery recovery day

We spent the day not trying to play all the 'what if' or 'if only' thoughts. We are thankful that in a culture where things don't always happen very quickly, the home owner was able to find the workers necessary to get a new lock put on the outside gate. Workers also fixed the wooden door to the house and now we're just waiting for one other lock to get fixed.

We spent the morning at Nicaragua Christian Academy so we could use internet. Since we had no way to secure the home and there were a bunch of guys working that we wanted to keep an eye on we were not able to help with VBS this afternoon. George stayed home with the kids and I spent 3+ hours at the police station to file a report. I am so thankful for missionaries Lori and Amira who went with me. Unfortunately, they are both experienced at having to report robberies. We are learning it is quite common here, and after hearing some others' stories we realize how much worse things could have been. A big blessing is that they did not take our passports which would have been a whole other ordeal.

We do ask for your prayers as we try to keep a positive attitude - it will take more work and time now obviously to get to a computer. George is finding it frustrating not to be able to read without his glasses. We know there is plenty to see and learn here and we trust that God will continue to teach us and use us.

  1. Dude, so sorry about your computer and other stuff getting stolen. That sucks. I'm praying things work out for you. So thankful to hear about all the other cool stuff happening on your trip. God bless you guys! Tripp
