November 18: Let's Do It Again Day

Nathan came up with today's blog post title and I think we'd all agree with him.  We are thrilled to have visitors here for the week which makes it extra special.  Last night, we welcomed George's sister Joan and her husband, Frank, from Toronto.  They're staying at a hotel about 15 minutes away in Manuel Antonio.

This morning we went to church with Frank and Joan and then after they came to our house for lunch, we went to their hotel to enjoy the pool.  We enjoyed the free entertainment too!  Not long after getting in the pool,  about a dozen white-faced monkeys came to play, eat and drink in the trees just a few feet away from the pool.  We had to be careful of all the falling coconuts they were sending down!

Pool-side bar, monkey style:  grab coconut, crack it open and drink the juice

In the later afternoon we all headed over to Casa de Amor, the drug rehab center we visit twice a month.  We had a wonderful time once again playing games, worshipping and enjoying a meal together.  George continued his devotional series on heroes of the faith (today was Moses) and I supplied pumpkin cheesecake for dessert.
The short walk from the bus stop to Casa de Amor drug rehab center provides a beautiful vista.

Joan and I taught Johnny and Mumfred how to play a dice game.

Nathan played checkers with one of the three new guys that joined the program since we were there two weeks ago.
Alfredo has a special place in his heart for Sophia because she reminds him of his eight year old daughter.  Alfredo and I often swap food secrets.  He does most of the cooking at the home (and it's delicious!) so I'm always asking him how he prepares stuff and he's always asking me how I prepare the desserts (not very common here to have homemade desserts)

Prayer item:  If you're a regular blog reader, you may recall Jonathan, the tattoo artist who was at Casa de Amor for a few weeks and who left the kids such beautiful drawings.  George and Nathan ran into him in the street a week or so ago and then we just ran into him yesterday on our way back from the market.  Although it was great to see him, it was also very hard.  He appeared high and had a hard time talking to us.  He is not working and asked for prayers.  Please pray that God would deliver him from his addictions and that he would be able to experience spiritual, emotional and physical healing.
