If you've been following along on the blog, you know that last week was a little crazy with George gone all week to Canada. Well, this week is a bit crazy too but for a really good reason....we have visitors!! George's brother, Pete, had one day to unpack (he too traveled to Alberta for the funeral but from Iowa), do laundry, and pack again for his journey to Quepos - a bit crazy for him obviously too. Thankfully, he survived all the travel and arrived in San José yesterday about an hour after his daughter Janelle came in from British Columbia, Canada. George drove a rental car to San José with Nathan and Sophia to pick them up. Although we have seen Pete a few times in the last few years, we have not seen Janelle for 5 years which was way too long! So thankful they are able to spend a few days with us.
Our friend Laura and son Gabriel are house sitting at the beautiful
'country estate' where we were invited to celebrate
American Thanksgiving. They invited us out for what felt like a mini-vacation
and cook-out (only the third time we've enjoyed a grilled meal since
July so that was a special treat in itself). The beautiful grounds and
home are very remote and made us feel a long way from our Quepos life.
We left immediately after school got out at 2pm and are thankful for a
few hours of wonderful relaxation, change of scenery, fellowship and
great food.

Pete, Laura and I enjoyed chatting on the patio while we watched the rest of the gang swim and fish down in the river.
|
Relaxing time enjoying the view, snacking and sipping cold coffee drinks.

The kids LOVED playing with the owners' two dogs.

It's been fun watching how quickly our kids can get reacquainted with Janelle.
